Do Teachers Really Care?

Do you ever wonder if your teachers really care….really care about You?

Are you afraid to ask questions even when you honestly need help? You may sit quietly at your desk while being too afraid to ask for help.  Other students nearby have finished their work and you wonder how they could finish the assignment so quickly. Did you know, however, that teachers actually like questions?

It may surprise you to know that teachers care far more than you realize. They do really want all their students to succeed in their classes. Teachers do really care about what’s going on in a student’s life and if there are problems or difficulties that may affect progress at school.

It takes a great amount of patience and love to be a teacher. To begin with, realize that many of your teachers became teachers because of their love for young people.  Since teaching requires a lot of patience to work with children from many different backgrounds, your teachers have love and patience for young people.

Many students may not realize that your teachers really do care about you, what you think, how you feel, and your future success. Your teachers also want you to know that you can come to them with questions…. Anytime! Yes, you can ask for help. Sadly, many young students are afraid to ask for help. That’s exactly what your teachers want to do….help you!

If you have a question that you feel embarrassed to ask in class, then stay a few minutes after the bell and ask your teacher privately. Most of the time, he or she will find the time to patiently answer your questions or concerns. If you don’t understand a lesson and need additional help, please ask.

Students come from all walks of life, and their personal problems may affect their academic progress. Teachers understand this as well. How can you concentrate during a biology lesson if your mother is suffering from cancer?

Through the years as a teacher I had many more opportunities to show Christian love to my students. Yes, some of my students faced very difficult personal circumstances. I was available to listen and to show I cared no matter what the difficulty was at that time.

Your teachers care, too. They care about you and are there to help you.

Just ask them!
