Love &….Patience

What makes a teacher great?

It’s a trait that may not be talked about in college courses. It’s a trait that not all teachers have. However, it makes a huge difference in the chemistry between teachers & students. The ones who have this characteristic are difference makers.

I became a full time teacher after my youngest child started school and joined his two older siblings. With the experience of raising three little ones I stepped into my first full time classroom.

It didn’t take me long to realize that raising three small children helped me prepare for the task of teaching more so than any college class. By being a full time mother first, I had cultivated love and patience for children- my own- as well as the hundreds of others who were on my class rolls.

I won’t call myself a great teacher, but I truly loved my classrooms full of precious young people through the years. Love made a difference. Patience added more color to my role.

Teaching was a calling on my life. I’m so happy I answered the call.
